Comunn Gàidhlig Astràilia is supporting the Celtic Studies Foundation in an attempt to raise enough money to fund a teacher of Scottish Gaelic at Sydney University on an ongoing basis. Sydney University is the only university in Australia which has a Celtic Studies Department. The University already has ongoing funding for Irish and Welsh language teaching, and the teaching of Scottish Gaelic will begin in the first semester of 2014. The appeal has now been launched with the goal of raising enough money for this teaching to be possible on an continuing basis.
